I have some goals for this site; mostly your typical goals of “here are some cool links” and “here’s some stuff I made”
Getting that sorted into a “verb based navigation system” feel like it’s harder than it should be. chrisduffy.is/sharing just doesn’t feel right. It got a more not-really-me vibe, or maybe a children’s cartoon vibe, not a “here’s cool stuff I found.” If anything it feels like the piracy homepage.
“capturing” is another potential path, and that works great for something like chrisduffy.is/capturing/photos - but this is “here’s cool stuff I made,” which means I could be sharing my music there. Of course I could do chrisduffy.is/making/music , but it wouldn’t work for other things, like chrisduffy.is/making/photos . And it definitely doesn’t work for found cool stuff. Also ‘making’ sounds like current projects… maybe we need a chrisduffy.is/done-with/ ? I suppose I will have the same problem with chrisduffy.is/building . Maybe I just shove all old stuff in chrisduffy.is/remembering?
chrisduffy.is/finding/ ? Cool found stuff there? But isn’t that stuff previously found?
I guess the root problem is the “is” - the verbs will always be immediate, because we can’t turn it into “chrisduffy.has/found”…
What’s funny is what triggered this crisis is my attempts to find a place to save web clippings… there’s a cool browser extension that will take a web page and shove it into obsidian. Great stuff for a brain garden, and even a decent approach for sharing interesting stuff found online with whoever is bored enough to read my page. But again, where does that go? chrisduffy.is/finding/webclips ? sharing? has/found ?
